Our purpose
The ocean is a vital life source, providing food, oxygen, energy, and supporting countless species while playing a key role in regulating the Earth’s climate. Protecting our oceans is essential for combating climate change and achieving sustainable development.
At the heart of the We Are Blue Schools Erasmus+ project is the mission to promote Ocean Literacy—a growing global movement aimed at helping people understand the ocean’s influence on us and our impact on the ocean.
Although Ocean Literacy has been extensively researched and documented, its integration into European school systems remains limited. This project is driven by the goal of making marine education and environmental awareness accessible and engaging for young people in schools across Europe.
